Trackers you buy once and own
Four sealed devices, published specs, three-year replacement warranty.
- Go-live
- Ships in 5 working days
- How you buy it
- Customer-owned devices
A tracker should outlast the contract it was sold with. Gytix sells four devices, and you pay for each one once. You own them outright, each carries a three-year replacement warranty, and machines that already report through a maker feed or another tracker need none of them.
From order to first report
- Day 1
Count by asset type
We split your list into powered machines, unpowered assets, tools and remote jobs, and quote each device.
- Days 2 to 5
Register and ship
Devices are registered to your account, bench tested and shipped within 5 working days.
- Week 2
Fit and photograph
Our installers fit gateways, charged per machine, or your mechanics follow our written installation standard.
- At install
First report
Each device reports before the installer leaves, with a photo record and a test result per machine.
What arrives in the box
- Who it is for
- Machines, trailers and tools that report nothing today
- Devices registered to your account and tested before they ship
- A written installation standard and a photo record for every machine
- Engine hours, position and fault codes from each A1 on its first day
- A three-year replacement warranty on every device you own
- A device health list with battery levels and last report times
Do you need our hardware?
Right for you if
- Half your fleet reports nothing today
- You would rather own trackers than rent them inside a contract
- Trailers, light towers and generators sit for weeks without power
Look elsewhere if
- Every machine already reports through a maker feed; connect those with no hardware
- You need a camera or dashcam; Gytix does not sell one
Example: a mining contractor near Silver City
A mining contractor runs 85 machines plus 40 light towers and generators at a copper mine near Silver City, with one far pit out of cellular range. The order: 77 A1 gateways, 8 A1S gateways for the far pit, 40 B1 trackers and 150 T1 tags for attachments and hand tools, all hardware the contractor owns outright. Our crew fits the 85 gateways in about two weeks, and the yard team bolts on the B1s in an afternoon. Every device reports before the installers leave.
Four devices, every spec
Each device is bought once. You own every device, and each carries a three-year replacement warranty.
| Device | Power | Connectivity | Battery | Sealing | Mounting |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| A1 gateway | Machine power, 9 to 36 volt input | GPS and LTE-M cellular; reads J1939 engine data; built-in Bluetooth reader for T1 tags; stores 30 days of data out of coverage | Runs on machine power | IP67 | Wired into the machine |
| A1S gateway | Machine power, 9 to 36 volt input | Everything in the A1, plus a satellite modem that sends position, hours and active fault codes every 15 minutes when there is no cellular signal | Runs on machine power | IP67 | Wired in, with open sky above |
| B1 tracker | Replaceable battery pack | GPS and cellular, one report a day | Up to 5 years at one report a day | IP68 | Bolt or magnet |
| T1 tag | Built-in battery | Bluetooth, read by any A1, A1S or phone running the Gytix app | Up to 3 years | Sealed housing | Rivet or adhesive |
Choosing the right device
Powered machines get an A1. Anything with an engine and a 12 or 24 volt system, from a skid steer to an articulated truck, takes an A1 gateway. It reads J1939 engine data, so hours, fuel and fault codes come from the engine controller instead of a guess from ignition time. Older machines without J1939 still report position and ignition hours. Installation takes 30 to 45 minutes on most machines.
Remote jobs get an A1S. The A1S is an A1 with a satellite modem added. Fit it only to machines that work beyond cellular coverage, because it costs more than an A1 and adds a monthly satellite data charge. Everywhere else, the A1’s 30 days of storage covers the gaps on a lease road or a mesa top, and the data uploads when the machine is back in coverage.
Unpowered assets get a B1. Trailers, light towers, generators and compressors that sit for weeks take a B1 battery tracker. One report a day lets the battery last up to 5 years, and the pack is replaceable, so the tracker outlives its first battery. It bolts or sticks on by magnet in minutes. Each daily report carries position and battery level, so a pack running low shows on the device health list long before it goes quiet.
Tools get a T1, and some machines get nothing. Breakers, buckets, forks and laser levels take a T1 tag, read by any gateway or crew phone nearby, bought singly or in packs of 25. Each tag runs up to 3 years and mounts with a rivet or adhesive. A machine that already reports through a manufacturer feed or a supported tracker needs no device at all; see mixed-fleet telematics.
Tracking hardware questions, answered
Which GPS tracker do I need for heavy equipment?
An A1 gateway for any machine with an engine, an A1S where the machine works beyond cellular coverage, a B1 for trailers and other unpowered assets, and a T1 tag for tools and attachments. Machines that already report through a manufacturer feed or a supported tracker need no Gytix device.
Do we own the trackers?
Yes. Every device is bought once, sold outright, and belongs to you. Each carries a three-year replacement warranty, so a device that fails is replaced. If you cancel the software, the hardware stays yours and your data stays exportable.
How are monthly fees charged per device?
A1 and A1S machines are covered by their plan, priced per machine per month, and the A1S adds a monthly satellite data charge per gateway. B1 trackers are billed per asset per month and T1 tags per tag per month. Every fee is month to month, and the written quote after a walkthrough on your fleet shows each one.
Can our own mechanics install the A1?
Yes. We send the written installation standard our field installers use, and each device is registered to your account before it ships. You can also have our crew fit the first batch, charged per machine installed, and let your shop handle new arrivals. Every install should end with a photo and a test report.
What does the three-year warranty cover?
It covers device failure for three years from delivery. If an A1, A1S, B1 or T1 stops working, email hello@gytix.com and we ship a replacement once the fault is confirmed. Damage from a fire, a rollover or a tracker cut out during a theft is not a device failure.
