Inside a heavy machine cab at dawn, two gloved hands crimp a connector under the dash, with a thermos on the seat and a mesa through the windshield.
A clean install is invisible for ten years.

Installed to a written standard

Crews fit 40 to 60 machines a week, each photographed and tested.

Go-live
40 to 60 machines a week per crew
How you buy it
Fitted by Gytix field installers

A tracker is only as good as the wire behind it. Our installers fit each A1 in 30 to 45 minutes to a written standard and leave a photo record and test report per machine, so the hours in the office match the cab meter.

How an install week runs

  1. Before the visit

    Plan the yard days

Send the machine list with model, year and location; we schedule around shifts so no job loses a machine.

  2. Day 1

    Pilot each class

The crew fits the first machine of each class with your shop lead watching and agrees the mounting points.

  3. Days 2 to 5

    Fit the fleet

Each crew fits 40 to 60 machines a week, photographing and testing every one before moving on.

  4. Last day

    Commission and hand over

Every gateway reporting, hours matched to the cab meter, and photos and test reports filed per machine.

What every machine leaves with

Who it is for
Fleets across New Mexico, West Texas, Arizona and southern Colorado
  • A1 or A1S gateways fitted to a written installation standard
  • B1 trackers and T1 tags mounted on trailers, towers and attachments in the same visit
  • A photo record per machine: mount, power, ground and harness
  • A test report per machine: GPS fix, check-in, engine hours and fault codes
  • Hours matched to each cab hour meter before the crew leaves
  • A commissioning sheet listing every machine, gateway serial and status

Should our crews fit it?

Right for you if

  • Your mechanics are too busy for a week of wiring
  • Machines are spread across yards and jobs in our field area
  • You want proof of every install in each machine’s record

Look elsewhere if

  • Every machine already reports through a manufacturer feed
  • Your own shop wants to fit the gateways and has the time to do it

Example: a highway contractor in Gallup

A highway contractor runs 180 machines from yards in Gallup and Grants, with crews on I-40 jobs most of the year. Two Gytix crews fit A1 gateways over two weeks, working the Gallup yard on weekends and the Grants yard in the evenings so no paving shift loses a machine. The crews wire 12 older loaders without engine data for ignition hours instead, noted on each test report. By the last day every machine reports, and the shop has photos and a test report filed against each unit.

The installation standard, in brief

Power, ground and data. Every A1 takes power from a fused source, a clean chassis ground and engine data from the J1939 diagnostic connector or a harness tee behind it, with no factory wires cut. Our installers are trained on 12 and 24 volt heavy-equipment electrical systems, and the A1 accepts 9 to 36 volts, so one standard covers a compact skid steer and a large dozer. Harnesses are loomed, routed away from heat and pinch points, and sealed against dust and washdown.

Mounting per machine class. The gateway goes where the operator will not kick it and a passerby will not see it, with a clear view of the sky for GPS. Mounting points are agreed per machine class on the first day and repeated across the fleet, so any mechanic can find the unit years later without a search. On an A1S, the satellite antenna needs open sky overhead, so it mounts higher on the machine.

Commissioning. An install is not finished until the machine reports. Before the crew leaves, each gateway shows a GPS fix, checks in over cellular or satellite, reads engine hours that match the cab meter and reports fault codes where the engine provides them. A machine that fails a check is fixed before the crew moves on, not on a return trip. Photos and the test report go into that machine’s record in Gytix.

Travel and partners. Our crews cover New Mexico, the Permian Basin of West Texas, El Paso, Arizona and southern Colorado. Travel is included in New Mexico; elsewhere in that area, a flat trip fee is quoted before the visit, and we batch nearby yards and jobs into one trip to keep crew days down. Beyond it, partner installers fit to the same written standard, with the same photo record and test report.

Installation questions, answered

How long does it take to install a tracker on an excavator?

An A1 gateway takes 30 to 45 minutes on most machines, test included, whether it is an excavator, a loader or a dozer. One crew fits 40 to 60 machines a week, depending on how spread out they are, so a 100-machine fleet needs about two weeks of crew time.

How is telematics installation priced?

Installation and commissioning is charged per machine installed. Travel is included anywhere in New Mexico. Elsewhere in our field area, a flat trip fee is quoted in writing before the visit. Gateways are bought separately and owned by you, the A1 and the A1S satellite gateway alike, with a three-year replacement warranty. The written quote after a walkthrough on your own fleet shows each figure.

Do you install outside New Mexico?

Yes. Our crews work across the Permian Basin of West Texas, El Paso, Arizona and southern Colorado, with a flat trip fee quoted before the visit. Beyond that area, partner installers fit gateways to the same written standard, with the same photo record and test report per machine.

Can you install on older machines without engine data?

Yes. Machines without J1939 engine data are wired for ignition hours instead, and the test report says so. Position, geofences, after-hours alerts and hours all work. Fault codes and engine fuel figures need an engine that reports them, so those fields stay empty on the older units.

Will a telematics install affect our machine warranty?

Our standard is written to keep that risk low: power from a fused source, data from the diagnostic connector or a harness tee, no factory wires cut, and every connection photographed. If you are unsure, check your warranty terms with your dealer; the photo record shows exactly what was done.
