These are the questions fleet owners, equipment managers and shop leads ask before they connect a single machine. If yours is not here, email hello@gytix.com and a person replies within one business day.

Plans and contracts

How is Gytix priced?

Software is priced per connected machine, per month, on the Field, Shop or Command plan, month to month with unlimited users. Trailers and light towers on a B1 tracker, tool tags and satellite data are priced per asset, per tag or per gateway. Your written quote after a walkthrough adds it up; see how pricing works.

Do we have to sign a long-term contract?

No. Every plan runs month to month, and you cancel with 30 days’ notice. There are no auto-renewing multi-year terms and no cancellation fee, and your full data history can be exported as CSV or through the API at any time, including after you cancel.

Is there a discount for paying a year up front?

Yes. Annual prepay is optional and lowers the yearly total, and month to month stays available on every plan. Your written quote shows both totals side by side, so you can compare them for your own fleet before you choose.

Can we change plans as the fleet grows?

Yes. Plans run month to month, so you can move from Field to Shop or Command when your shop is ready for work orders, or step back down later. Your machines, history and users stay in place; only the monthly price per machine changes.

Do you charge per user?

No. Every plan includes unlimited users, so operators, mechanics, superintendents, dispatchers and the office each get their own login. Pricing is set per connected machine, per light asset or per tag, never per person, so adding a new mechanic never changes the bill.

Trackers and hardware

Do we need Gytix hardware on every machine?

No. Machines that already report through a manufacturer feed following ISO 15143-3, or through a supported third-party tracker, connect with no Gytix hardware, and you keep the subscription you have. We fit A1 gateways only on machines that report nothing today.

How is the tracking hardware priced?

Hardware is bought once and owned by you, never leased: A1 gateways, A1S satellite gateways, B1 battery trackers and T1 tags. Every device carries a three-year replacement warranty. Installation is charged per machine installed, and your quote lists only the devices your fleet is missing.

Does equipment tracking work without cell service?

Yes. The A1 gateway stores 30 days of data when it is out of coverage and uploads it when it reconnects. Where you need live position on a remote job, the A1S sends position, hours and active fault codes by satellite every 15 minutes, billed per gateway per month.

How long do battery trackers and tags last?

The B1 battery tracker runs up to 5 years at one report a day, and its battery pack is replaceable. T1 tags for tools and attachments run up to 3 years. The B1 is sealed to IP68 and mounts with a bolt or magnet; the T1 mounts with a rivet or adhesive.

Which machines can the A1 gateway go on?

Any powered machine with a 9 to 36 volt supply, which covers 12 and 24 volt excavators, wheel loaders, dozers, skid steers, articulated trucks, motor graders and service trucks. It reads J1939 engine data where the machine provides it, and it is sealed to IP67 against dust and water.

Your fleet data

Who owns the data Gytix collects?

You do. Every position, engine hour, fault code, inspection, work order and cost record belongs to your company, on every plan. You can export all of it as CSV or through the API at any time, including after you cancel, without asking anyone’s permission.

Does Gytix sell or share fleet data?

No. We never sell fleet data, and we never share it with equipment manufacturers, dealers or lenders. Gytix is not owned by any of them, so nobody upstream has a claim on your hours, locations or costs. Read how we protect fleet data.

Where is the data stored, and how is it protected?

Fleet data is hosted in U.S. data centers, encrypted in transit and at rest, and backed up to separate storage. Role permissions limit what each user sees, an audit log records every change, and the Command plan adds single sign-on through your company’s identity provider.

Can Gytix send data to our accounting system?

Yes. Gytix exports to your accounting system by API or by scheduled file, and we build the connector during onboarding. Every plan includes full data export; the Command plan adds the full API, webhooks and an MCP server for AI assistants your team already uses.

What happens to our data if we cancel?

You keep it. Export everything as CSV or through the API before or after the plan ends, then send a written request if you want it deleted; we delete it within 30 days of that request. Your trackers stay yours too, because you bought them.

Rollout and training

How long does it take to go live?

Most fleets go live in about four weeks, following our Survey, Connect, Tune, Run method. Machines with a manufacturer feed can connect in a day, and larger fleets stretch the Connect phase because one crew installs 40 to 60 machines a week.

How long does tracker installation take?

An A1 gateway takes 30 to 45 minutes on most machines. A crew fits 40 to 60 machines a week, and every install gets a photo record and a test report before the crew leaves. Installation is charged per machine, with travel included anywhere in New Mexico.

Is training available in Spanish?

Yes. Training, inspections and the mobile app are all available in English and Spanish, so an operator can finish a pre-shift walkaround in either language. Onboarding includes training for operators, mechanics and supervisors, and extra on-site training days can be added at a day rate on your quote.

Does the mobile app work without signal?

Yes. The mobile app has an offline mode on every plan. Operators complete inspections with no signal, mechanics on Shop or Command record work orders the same way, and everything syncs when the phone reconnects to cellular or Wi-Fi.

What does onboarding cost?

Onboarding and training is a flat fee, and it is included on the Command plan for fleets of 25 machines or more. It covers all four weeks of the rollout, with an onboarding lead who stays your named contact for the first 90 days.

Where our crews work

Where do Gytix field crews work?

Our crews install and service hardware across New Mexico, the Permian Basin of West Texas, El Paso, Arizona and southern Colorado, working from Albuquerque. Software customers can be anywhere in the United States. See every area and town we cover.

Do you charge for travel to our yard?

Not in New Mexico, where installation travel is included anywhere in the state. Outside New Mexico, in places such as Midland, El Paso, Phoenix or Durango, we quote a flat trip fee before the visit, so it appears on your written quote.

Can we use Gytix outside the Southwest?

Yes. The software works for fleets anywhere in the United States. Machines that report through a manufacturer feed following ISO 15143-3 connect with no Gytix hardware, and for the rest we plan installation with you during the walkthrough.

Do crews install in our yard or on the job?

Both. Most installs happen in your yard, where one crew fits 40 to 60 machines a week. Machines working remote jobs or leases are fitted on site on a planned route, so a dozer on a mesa top does not have to come home first.

Getting help

How do we contact Gytix support?

Email hello@gytix.com. Support answers from Albuquerque, Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mountain Time, and a person replies within one business day. Include the machine number, what you see and any fault codes; the support page lists what helps.

What if something urgent breaks?

Put “Urgent” in the email subject, and we answer within two business hours during business hours. Urgent means work has stopped or a risk is hidden: a job’s machines stop reporting, theft alerts are not sending, or nobody can log in.

Does anyone watch our alerts overnight?

Yes, if you add the managed fleet desk, a per-machine monthly add-on. Fleet analysts with heavy-equipment maintenance backgrounds watch alerts around the clock and act on them, and desk customers get an escalation line that is answered around the clock.

How does a hardware warranty replacement work?

Email the device serial, the machine number and a photo. Support checks the device’s last reports to confirm the fault, we ship a replacement under the three-year replacement warranty, and support confirms the new unit is reporting before closing the case.
