Gytix LLC wants everyone to be able to use gytix.com: people who use a screen reader, a keyboard alone, magnification or voice control, and people reading on a phone in bright sun with work gloves on. This statement says what we aim for, what we have done, where we still fall short, and how to tell us about a problem.

Our target: WCAG 2.2 AA

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium. We treat that as the minimum for every page we publish, including new pages and articles.

This statement covers the gytix.com website. If you need to know how the Gytix web app or mobile app works with assistive technology, email us and we will tell you what we have tested and where the limits are.

What we built in

  • Keyboard navigation. Every link, menu and control can be reached and used with a keyboard, in a logical order, with a visible focus outline. A skip link at the top of each page jumps straight to the main content. The navigation menus are standard disclosure controls that open with Enter or Space.
  • Contrast. Text and controls are designed to meet the WCAG AA contrast ratios: 4.5 to 1 for body text, and 3 to 1 for large text, focus outlines and other interface parts.
  • Text alternatives. Every illustration has a one-sentence description for screen readers. Purely decorative images are hidden from them.
  • Structure. Each page has one main heading, with section headings in order, plus landmarks for the navigation, main content and footer. Tables have column headers, and lists are marked up as lists.
  • Reduced motion. If your device is set to reduce motion, animations and transitions on the site are switched off.
  • Content without JavaScript. Every page, menu and FAQ answer is readable with JavaScript turned off. The ROI calculator and PM interval planner need JavaScript, so each one also explains its formula in plain text on the same page.
  • Resizing. Pages reflow to a single column on narrow screens and stay usable with text zoomed to 200%.
  • Email instead of forms. Every booking and contact link opens an email in your own mail program, so there are no form fields, time limits or puzzles to solve.

How we check it

Before launch, we checked pages by keyboard alone, at 200% zoom and on a narrow phone screen, and reviewed colors against the contrast ratios above. Automated checks on the built site flag any image without a text alternative, any page without exactly one main heading, and any page missing its title or description. We repeat the manual checks when we add a new kind of page.

Known limits

  • Illustrations. The illustrations are conceptual, not diagrams. Their text alternatives describe the scene, and no information on the site is carried by an illustration alone.
  • Interactive tools. The ROI calculator and PM interval planner are new, and we are still testing them with screen readers. If either gives you trouble, email us your figures and we will run them for you and reply with the results.
  • External links. Some pages link to other websites, such as government agencies and standards bodies. We cannot control how accessible those websites are.

If you find a barrier we have not listed, we want to hear about it.

Report a problem

Email hello@gytix.com with “Accessibility” in the subject line. It helps to include:

  • the page address
  • what you were trying to do and what happened
  • the device, browser and any assistive technology you use

A person will reply within two business days with what we found and when we expect to fix it. If you need any information from this site in another format, such as plain text in an email, say so and we will send it.
